Privacy policy
Who we are and what this covers
Armbet is run by SportBet Inc. ("Armbet", "we", "us"), 12 Signature Way SW, Calgary, Alberta T3H 2V8, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use the Armbet app for iPhone and Android, the web app at app.armbet.com, our links at go.armbet.com and our website and store at armbet.net, and what we do with it.
Questions, requests or complaints, including for our Privacy Officer: support@armbet.com. Our Terms of Use are at armbet.net/pages/armbet-terms-conditions.
What we collect
What you give us
- Account: your email and password, or your name and email from Google or Apple if you sign in with them.
- Profile: name, username, photo, cover photo, bio, date of birth, gender, dominant arm, weight, level, years of experience, whether you have a table, city and country, social media links and language. Also your answers to the sign-up questions, such as your goals and how you heard of Armbet.
- What you do in Armbet: challenges and matches (arm, format, time, place, message, coin stake, results), open challenges, clubs, club reviews and claims, club sessions and events, chat messages and reactions, referrals, and the players you block or report.
- Match videos: see "Match videos, YouTube and Google" below.
- Support: your message and reply email, with your app version, device model, operating system and language.
- Quick match as a guest: the name you give (optional). We keep an anonymous guest record, a scrambled copy of your browser's guest key and a scrambled copy of your IP address.
- Store orders on armbet.net: name, addresses, email, phone and order details, handled by Shopify. Shopify processes the payment; we don't see full card numbers.
What we collect automatically
- Location, only if you allow it and only while the app is open. Your device sends its location about every 30 minutes, or after you move 500 m. We store that point and your home city. Other players only ever see an approximate area or a rounded distance (see "Who sees your information").
- Device: your push notification token, a device ID and the platform, so we can send you notifications. We also keep when you were last active and which days you used Armbet.
- App analytics, if you allow it: which screens and features you use, linked to your Armbet account ID, with your language, plan, level, arm, units and home country. Our own app never uses an advertising ID.
- Crash reports: when the app crashes, a report of what happened, with your device model and app version. You can turn crash reports off in Settings → Privacy.
- Premium: if you subscribe through the App Store, Google Play or our web checkout (Stripe), we learn your plan, the store and when it renews or ends. We never receive your card details.
Match videos, YouTube and Google
Armbet uses YouTube API Services to post and play match videos. By posting a video you also agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google handles what it receives under the Google Privacy Policy.
You choose where a video goes:
- Armbet's YouTube channel. Your phone or browser sends the file straight to YouTube, on Armbet's channel. We keep the video's YouTube ID, its title, description and visibility (unlisted or public), whether it is made for kids, the match it belongs to, who posted it, its size, and when it was posted, shown, held or removed. Videos stay private on YouTube until YouTube's own checks pass.
- Your own YouTube channel. You sign in with Google and allow Armbet to upload videos to your channel (the "youtube.upload" permission). The upload runs on your device; we never receive or store your Google password or your Google access token. We keep the video's YouTube ID, title and visibility, and the match it belongs to, so it shows there.
What others see: a video shows on its match and on the players' profiles in Armbet, and anyone with the link can watch an unlisted video on YouTube. If your opponent is under 18, the video stays hidden until they agree to it.
Watching: videos play in YouTube's player in its privacy-enhanced mode. YouTube may set cookies or similar on your device once you press play.
Removing: either player can remove a video from a match at any time. If it is on Armbet's channel, we delete it from YouTube within minutes. If it is on your own channel, it comes off the match and stays on your channel until you delete it there.
Revoking access: you can withdraw Armbet's access to your Google account at any time at Google's security settings. Your videos already posted stay where they are until you remove them.
Armbet's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell it.
How we use it, and why we may
- Run your account, matches, rankings, clubs, chat and videos: to provide the service you asked for (contract).
- Show you players, clubs and challenges near you: contract, and your permission for location.
- Send notifications and service emails, such as password resets: contract.
- Send news and offers by email: our legitimate interest in telling players about Armbet, or your consent where the law requires it. You can unsubscribe in any email, or turn Marketing off in Settings → Privacy.
- Measure how the app is used: your consent.
- Fix crashes and keep Armbet secure; stop cheating, spam and abuse; handle reports: our legitimate interest in a safe, working app.
- Handle subscriptions and store orders: contract.
- Answer support requests: contract and legitimate interest.
- Meet legal obligations, such as tax records or lawful requests: legal obligation.
We don't sell your personal information, we don't show ads in Armbet, and we don't use your information for targeted advertising.
Who sees your information
Other Armbet players see your profile: name, username, photo, cover, bio, age (never your date of birth), gender, arm, weight and weight class, level, experience, social links, city and country, member number, Premium status, when you joined and were last active, your scores, clubs and recent matches.
Where you appear depends on your Discover setting:
- Current area: you appear on the map at an approximate spot, within about 1 km of where you are, never your exact position.
- Home city: you appear at your city's centre.
- List only: you appear in nearby lists with a rounded distance, not on the map.
- Hidden: people can only find you by name.
Distances are always rounded (to the nearest 1 km up to 10 km, then 5 km). Match details and chat are seen only by the people in them. Club reviews and club pages are visible to members.
Public pages. If you are findable (not Hidden), anyone with the link can see a short public profile at go.armbet.com: name, photo, score, username, level, weight class, arm, city, country, member number, clubs and open challenges. These pages ask search engines not to list them. Videos follow their own visibility (see "Match videos, YouTube and Google").
Service providers that process information for us:
- Supabase (on Amazon Web Services): database, sign-in, file storage, server functions. Ireland (EU).
- Google Firebase: app analytics (with your consent) and crash reports. United States and elsewhere.
- Google YouTube: hosting and playing match videos. United States and elsewhere.
- Google and Apple: sign-in, maps, and push delivery to Android and iPhone. United States and elsewhere.
- Expo: sending push notifications and app updates. United States.
- RevenueCat and Stripe, and the Apple and Google stores: Premium subscriptions and payments. United States and elsewhere.
- Twilio SendGrid: sending emails. United States.
- Shopify: the armbet.net store. Canada and elsewhere.
- IONOS: hosting app.armbet.com and go.armbet.com. United States.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect players or our rights, or as part of a sale or merger of our business (the buyer would be bound by this policy).
Your choices
- Discover: choose Current area, Home city, List only or Hidden in the app's settings.
- Location: allow or refuse it in your phone's settings at any time. Armbet works without it, with fewer nearby results.
- Analytics, crash reports and marketing: choose on first launch and change them in Settings → Privacy.
- Notifications: switch each kind (challenges, results, messages, clubs, nearby, news) on or off in Settings, or turn them all off in your phone's settings. Reminders only come between 08:00 and 22:00 your time, at most 2 a day.
- Emails: every news email has an unsubscribe link. Service emails, such as password resets, still come.
- Leaderboards: choose whether you appear on them in your profile settings.
- Blocking: block a player to stop them challenging or messaging you.
How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your information while your account is open. You can delete your account at any time in the app (Settings → Privacy → Delete my account) or at go.armbet.com/delete-account. Deletion happens straight away: open matches are refunded, then your account and profile go.
When you delete your account:
- Your profile, profile and cover photos (within a day), date of birth, location, scores, coins, notifications, blocks, reports you made, reviews and referrals are deleted.
- Your matches are deleted, including from your opponents' history.
- Videos on Armbet's channel are removed from matches and deleted from YouTube.
- Chat messages you sent stay for the other people in the chat, without your name.
- Support requests are deleted 30 days after we answered them, or 90 days after deletion if still open.
- Subscription and payment records are kept as long as tax and accounting law requires.
- Records of moderation actions are kept to protect players, without being shown to anyone.
- Your email stays on our unsubscribe list, so we never email you again.
Other time limits:
- In-app notifications are deleted after 90 days.
- A quick match guest who never played is deleted after 2 days. A guest unseen for 12 months has their name erased; their matches stay without it.
- A video on your own channel stays there until you delete it on YouTube.
Children and teenagers
You must be 13 or older to use Armbet. We check your date of birth when you sign up, and we delete accounts we learn belong to someone younger. Players under 18 can't stake coins on matches, and a video of a match against a player under 18 stays hidden until that player agrees to it.
If you are a parent or guardian and think your child under 13 has given us information, write to support@armbet.com and we will delete it.
Your rights, transfers, security and cookies
Your rights. Depending on where you live (for example Canada, the EU, the UK or California), you can ask to see the information we hold about you, get a copy, correct it, delete it, or object to or limit how we use it. You can withdraw a consent at any time. In the app, Settings → Privacy → Export my data sends you a copy, and you can delete your account there. For anything else, write to support@armbet.com; we answer within 30 days. You can also complain to your data protection authority, such as the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Transfers. We are based in Canada, our database is in Ireland, and some providers work from the United States and other countries. Where the law requires it, these transfers are covered by safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
Security. Information is encrypted in transit, access to it is limited to the people who need it, and each player can only read their own private data. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a strong password.
Cookies and device storage. The web app keeps your sign-in, your privacy choices and, for guests, a guest key in your browser's storage. Google Analytics cookies are only set if you allow analytics. YouTube's player may set its own cookies when you play a video. go.armbet.com uses no analytics. The armbet.net store uses Shopify's cookies for the cart, checkout and store statistics.
Changes and contact
We will update this policy when what we do changes, and change the date below. If a change matters, we will tell you in the app or by email before it applies.
